Wes Anderson’s Stunning ‘Asteroid City’ Trailer Unites Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Aliens

Focus Features has recently released the trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming comedy, “Asteroid City.” The movie is set in a fictional American desert town during the 1950s, and revolves around the Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention, which aims to bring together students and parents in an academic competition. However, the event is thrown into chaos as events of global significance unfold.

The film boasts a star-studded cast, which includes Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks, Hong Chau, and Scarlett Johansson. Other notable names featured in the movie are Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum, and Rita Wilson.

“Asteroid City” is the latest addition to Anderson’s impressive list of works, which includes acclaimed movies like “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” and “The Royal Tennenbaums.” The film was co-written by Anderson and Roman Coppola, who has collaborated with the director on several films, including “The French Dispatch” and “Isle of Dogs.” Anderson produced the movie alongside his long-time partners Jeremy Dawson and Steven Rales of Indian Paintbrush. John Peet and Octavia Peissel served as co-producers, with Christoph Fisser and Henning Molfenter as executive producers.

The movie is set for a limited theatrical release on June 16, followed by a wider expansion on June 23. It is expected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to “Asteroid City,” Anderson’s Netflix-backed adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” is also scheduled to premiere in 2023.
