In a touching tribute, Cher fondly recalls her recent reunion with the legendary Tina Turner before her passing at the age of 83. Recognizing the importance of cherishing their enduring friendship, Cher made it a priority to spend quality time with Turner. “I felt a deep need to reconnect and show her that she was still in our hearts,” Cher revealed during an interview with MSNBC. “So, one by one, we took turns visiting her, and the simple act of being there brought a smile to her face.”

Despite her ailing health, Turner displayed an incredible strength and vibrant spirit during their visit. “Turner initially expressed concern about the length of our visits,” Cher recalled. “However, to our surprise, what was intended to be a short visit turned into five hours of laughter and joy. Tina was truly having a good time, defying her illness and choosing to focus on the happiness in the present moment.”

While the exact cause of Turner’s passing is yet to be disclosed, her health battles over the years have been well-documented. Turner’s health struggles date back to 1978 when she was diagnosed with hypertension. In 2013, shortly after her marriage to husband Erwin Bach, she suffered a stroke, further complicating her condition. Seeking alternative treatments, she turned to homeopathic remedies, which unfortunately exacerbated her health, leading to total kidney failure.

In an act of unwavering love, Bach selflessly donated his kidney to Turner in April 2017, providing her a chance at renewed life. Though the procedure was largely successful, Turner continued to experience mild symptoms such as nausea and dizziness, as shared in her interview with the European Kidney Health Alliance.

Reflecting on their recent meeting, Cher expressed admiration for Turner’s resilience throughout her arduous journey. “Even with her dialysis machine nearby, Tina remained a pillar of strength,” Cher noted. “She fought this illness with remarkable determination for an extensive period of time.”

In her final moments, Turner confided in Cher, sharing her readiness to move on from the pain and discomfort that plagued her. “She once told me, ‘I’m truly prepared. I simply no longer wish to endure this suffering,'” Cher revealed, encapsulating the bittersweet emotions of their conversation.
