If you’ve always wanted a Christmas tree that would delight children and adults alike, Candyland Christmas decorations are perfect for you! This is an “easy to create” holiday theme and can also be done on a budget. All it takes is some starting crafting skills, an extra helping hand every now and then, and a love of all things Candyland Christmas! Here are step-by-step instructions for creating your ideal Candyland Christmas tree and decorations!

Our Candyland Christmas decorations:

The first thing to consider when creating your Christmas Candyland is flocking your tree. The snow effect adds this fantastical element that is simply delicious! Spraying snow is easy and convenient, and it’s available on Amazon. Ivory snow and water, mixed into a thick paste, can also be used as a real “flocking”.

Candy Ornaments You Can Make

Lollipop ornaments

Use disc-shaped Styrofoam to create your lollipop ornaments. We have three different kinds of lollipops on our tree.

Small Candy Lollipop

Place the small candies in a large bowl. (We actually found these colorful styrofoam balls that looked like candy) Spread the disc with regular white glue, then dip it in the candy and let dry, repeat on the other side. You may need to add a little more to fill in any bare spots after drying. Insert a wooden dowel as a lollipop stick. Spray lightly with glitter spray, let dry.

Rope pacifier ornament

This ornament did not use foam, but simply rope style candy found at the dollar store. Let the candy dry a bit so it’s not sticky and slightly stiff. Using a glue gun, create a coil with the rope, gluing as you go. Add more strings until you have the size you want. You may need some extra help with this step of the process. (There’s a reason we use a low-temperature glue gun! Ouch!) Insert a wooden dowel for the stick. We had to sharpen the end of the stick slightly with a pair of scissors. Let it dry overnight so the candy hardens. Spray lightly with glitter spray.

Peppermint Candy Lollipop Ornaments

Using an artist’s brush and regular craft paint, freehand draw the swirls of a peppermint candy onto a foam disk. You can practice on a piece of cardboard first, but it helps to have a photo or real candy to follow along with. Tip: Make sure there is plenty of paint on the brush, and you will get smooth lines… Let it dry. Insert a wooden dowel for the stick. Wrap with transparent cellophane and tie with a ribbon.

…Here’s the result ! The cellophane packaging really compliments this one and makes it look like a real lollipop.

Candy Christmas Ornament

Candyland gumball and marshmallow decorations are made simply with a glue gun. We used a piece of twisted floral wire as a hanger. As we inserted the hanger into the foam, we added a little hot glue to secure it. Then simply cover the Styrofoam ball with candy using your glue gun. We used glitter spray again here on the gumball ornament.

Easy ornament upgrade

So maybe we lied. These might be the simplest candy decorations ever! In “Studio DIY,” she simply wrapped store-bought candy-colored ornament balls in cellophane. Do! Can we say dollar store?

DIY Donut Ornaments

Make these “Makezine” ribbon candy ornaments with felt, needle and thread. Think of all the sizes and colors you could make! Or, stick to a tight color palette and center your Christmas candy around pink, red or even green!
