The inquest heard that Laura had suffered from anxiety after giving birth to her two children, but had sought help and was quickly prescribed medication which had helped her. Laura was set to resume her studies at Teesside University, which her family said she was excited about.

According to her loved ones, Laura’s death was an accident, and they believe she was wholly committed to her two children. At the inquest, Laura’s mother Nicola spoke of her concern when she hadn’t heard from Laura on the morning of May 21st. She attempted to enter Laura’s home but was unable to gain access. Laura’s friends were then contacted, and they managed to break into the property and found her unresponsive. The post-mortem examination found that Laura had alcohol and cocaine in her system.

She expressed her hope that the end of their involvement would bring peace to the family.
