A colony of cats, previously living on a farm, found themselves in desperate need of rescue due to poor living conditions and urgent medical requirements.

Julie, an animal rescuer, was alerted to the situation and bravely stepped in to help. She worked tirelessly to bring these cats and kittens to safety, ensuring no more little ones would be born outdoors in the harsh elements.

The compassionate team at Chatons Orphelins Montréal, an animal rescue organization in Montreal, Canada, took all these feline souls under their wings. Among them, there was a timid tabby named Alba, who was pregnant and understandably frightened.

After receiving vital veterinary care, Alba was welcomed into a foster home, her first experience with indoor living. Celine Crom from Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared, “She was very hungry and slept a lot. She was placed in a quiet room with an unlimited supply of food. Alba was initially very shy but gradually warmed up to her foster family.”

The sweet tabby cat soon savored the luxury of being indoors, with her own cozy nest and an abundance of high-quality food. Over time, she came out of her shell, even beginning to seek affection from her newfound human friends.

With each passing day, Alba’s confidence grew, realizing that her new family of six was in good hands. She reveled in the soft surroundings, purring and exchanging slow blinks with her foster mom whenever she entered the room.

Alba was relieved to receive much-needed assistance to feed her hungry kittens, allowing her to take short breaks for nourishment and love from her human caregivers.

“Her belly grew every day, and on March 10th, she gave birth to five healthy babies in a safe environment,” Celine shared. “Mama Alba was still quite thin and couldn’t produce enough milk for all the hungry mouths, so her foster family began supplementing the kittens around the clock.”

Alba continued to flourish as she realized her family was in caring hands. She was content with her soft, kneading spots and delighted in the attention and love showered upon her.

“Alba and her kittens are thriving thanks to the love and care of their foster mom. She adores her new life with people and willingly lets them handle her babies while purring with delight.”

The once timid farm cat has transformed into a joyful, affectionate tabby. She welcomes the company of other furry housemates when they visit and has truly embraced her new, indoor life.

“The kittens are now big enough to eat on their own, but they still nurse on their mom for comfort,” Celine explained. Alba is a remarkable mother who indulges her kittens’ neediness and tolerates their playful antics. “She loves talking or chirping to them. They are all healthy and gaining weight every day.”

After spending her first two years outdoors, Alba is now thoroughly enjoying her new life as an indoor cat. She radiates contentment as she naps with her precious babies cuddled close.
